Chilwell PC Launch
Since the launch of the Performance cCentre November 2009 at Chilwell Olympia Sports Centre. Chilwell Olympians Juniors the founding club has gone from strength to strength and are currently 'Club of the Month' for July 2011 on the Badminton England website. The club has continued to grow and has shown great improvement in the standard of players at all levels. Other clubs have watched with interest the progress made with players on the PC pathway and Club Pathway and some are now setting up their own PC Raw talent Cells linked to the Performance Centre. To accommodate this we have agreed to change the name of the PC , from Chilwell Performance Centre to Nottingham Performance Centre suffixed by the location of the Raw Cell i.e. Nottingham Performance Centre @ Chilwell and Nottingham Performance Centre @ Bingham. This Change will be ratified at our AGM in September Our Under 11 Mixed team have won the Notts Junior League for the Season 2010/2011 and were unbeaten all season so congratulations to them. There will be more information on this in the end of season Newsletter.
Chilwell Olympians Junior Badminton Club is a Badminton England accredited Premier Club which provides coaching in a 'Safe and Child Friendly Environment'. We put a strong emphasis on Fun and Enjoyment for juniors and students between the ages of 8 years to 18 years of age. The photo above shows the club team of coaches volunteers and most important the players. Some of our most recent addition to the coaching team are Matt Astle, Ben Aldred, James Brown, Ashley Revill, Keiron Reynolds and hopefully in the next few weeks another Sam Davies. All have been with the club as juniors and are making good progress in their new roles as Level 1 coaches. Re-accreditation as a Premier Club was submitted to Badminton England and approved before the end of December 08. It was a laborious exercise to ensure that all the criteria was met but this gave us the opportunity to do a quality audit and look closely at our current policies and procedures. The submitted document now forms the basis of our new club handbook which is available on CDROM. We have entered teams at U11, U13, U15 and U17 levels and if you are under the required age at January 1st 2011 you are eligible to play in that team. Matches will be played on a home and away basis so we need parents to assist with transport arrangements. If you want to play in any of the teams please let one of the club team know and it will be your parents responsibility to get you to matches on time. A fixture list will be provided in due course. We are Dedicated to Sport of Badminton and in producing players with the ability to compete at the highest levels. The club is held every Saturday at Chilwell Olympia Sports Centre, Chilwell and starts at 9am. At the moment the sessions last until 1pm and we have the use of 10 courts. The winter season is from September until May and the summer season is during the months of June and July.
